You are about to begin the exciting journey of settling in Liberland, the land of liberty and opportunity. Before embarking on your Liberland adventure, make sure that you check and fulfil the personal requirements.
For Those With 5000 Staked Merits (LLM)
Step 1: Gathering Your Supplies and Materials
Regarding the hardware you are going to use, we strongly recommend purchasing your own gear, tools, and supplies due to the high demand for any shared hardware. Doing so ensures you have everything you need at your disposal. There are big hardware stores in Osijek.
If you are unable to transport your tools and equipment on your own, please arrange their transport with our Border Rangers.
Step 2: The 25-Day Requirement
To settle in Liberland, you must spend at least 25 consecutive days in the area. During this time, you have two options:
Option 1 (Preferred): Immediate Construction
If you are ready to commit to the entire 25-day period, you may begin construction immediately. Your diligent effort to complete the construction project within this time frame will culminate in the claiming of your land title. Present your finished project showcasing its intended quality and functions, and the land is yours.
Option 2: Deferred Construction
Should you prefer to commence construction at a later date, arrangements must be made individually with our Land Registrar. Bear in mind that time frames vary, with three months allocated for a standard cabin and up to one year for more complex structures. During the initial 25-day period, engage with your fellow Liberlanders or contribute to collective public project efforts on the land.
For both options, the following conditions apply:
- For every 10 merits you hold, you can settle 1 square metre of land. In general, you claim the land you physically use for your construction project, but mindful of the tradition of homesteading, we set the following rules:
- Your first 1500 square metres is envisioned as your comfortable home: it can be settled by utilizing a (smaller) part of it for construction and by fencing the rest and using it for more low-key projects like fields, gardens, and parking spots.
- If you are entitled to claim over 1500 square metres, you can only settle that additional land by actively using it for business or personal purposes; e.g., building apartments, industries, shops, bath houses, private gardens, etc.
- Ensure that your construction does not harm anyone else or the environment.
- You are expected to take care of your properties by the standard of care of a diligent owner. If you build a house, you should make sure that it is regularly repaired, gardens shouldn't be left to become overgrown, shops should be periodically restocked and operated on a reasonable schedule, etc.
For Those Without Staked Merits (LLM)
If you don't have merits yet, don't worry; you can still become a Liberland settler. Follow these steps:
- Become an E-resident of Liberland.
- Register on border.liberland.org for your visa for 25 days.
- Spend 25 consecutive days in the area, either building your own house or assisting your fellow settlers who work on various public projects aimed at increasing the chances and speed of Liberland's success.
- Earn 200 merits for each of the 25 days you complete after the completion of your 25-day-long settlement. If you do not complete this period, you will not receive any merits.
- After the 25 days, use those merits to obtain your citizenship.
- At the same time, make an agreement with the Land Registrar on when your construction will be finished.
- From then on, you will be working on obtaining your land title by settlement under the same conditions as other citizens.
For Remote Settlers
If you cannot or do not wish to come in person, you have the option to hire a settler to represent you. Here is how it works:
- Sponsor one of our settlers or bring someone you trust onto Liberland.
- You, as the landowner, will receive the merits and land entitlement, and not the settler; he or she is your proxy representing you.
- Your hired settler must actively participate, whether in construction for your sake, for someone else, or working on public projects.
- One settler can only represent one merit holder; no settler sharing will be allowed. This is for your benefit: the more individual settlers we have, the faster Liberland gets built.

⚠️ You cannot shorten the 25-day requirement by having more settlers, but you are welcome to bring in multiple settlers to expedite construction projects. Hired professionals in construction, land building, maintenance, etc. are very welcome.
